With a population of approximately 8,000 spread over 24 square miles, Boxford is a sparsely populated community of large-lot single family homes and winding, rural roads. The Boxford Athletic Association manages several ball fields and a large swimming pond. The many trails running through town make it popular with hikers and horse lovers. The community enjoys its quiet existence and does not actively seek commercial development.
